Protect the air in your home this Holiday Season.
Are your ready for the Holidays? Have you thought about how to protect the air in your home this holiday season? As the holidays are quickly approaching, there are always so many things to do to prepare: shopping, baking, decorating our homes, wrapping of gifts and visiting with friends and family. Many of our holiday traditions have had to be put on hold for the last couple of years due to the COVID pandemic. But, as we navigate through this difficult time, we continue to take precautions to protect ourselves and those around us through appropriate measures of distancing, sanitizing, vaccinating and mask wearing, but is this enough? These precautions protect from large respiratory droplets, but what about the smaller (aerosols) that remain in the air longer?
This year, we can finally begin to celebrate indoors with family and friends from out of town or outside our social bubble. A perfect way to maintain traditions and keep safe is to implement air purification in our home. As family travels to come home for the holidays, or friends come over for a holiday toast, we all need protection from viruses and bacteria that typically present themselves during the winter months. These airborne particles/aerosols are more of a concern indoors or in enclosed spaces, because air distribution from your HVAC system in the home can move them around from room to room, hence spreading the particles in question. When air purification is integrated, the airborne particles have more layers of filtration to go through, adding better protection for all.
We have learned so far, that COVID-19 does not spread easily outdoors because the air is constantly changing and moving, so the virus can quickly scatter. By incorporating air purification indoors, we can mirror this type of dispersion because the air particles get captured and filtered and as a result, the ventilation is greatly improved.
By having an air purifier, we can enjoy all the indoor holiday traditions. For example, many people are allergic or sensitive to real trees in their homes. Pine pollen, mold spores or simply the scent can be problematic for some. Air purifiers with HEPA filters, such as our 400 or 900 series units, can remove these contaminants, toxins and odors from the air, making it easier to breathe.
Viruses, bacteria and even COVID-19, according to the CDC, are spread by airborne transmission. Air purifiers equipped with HEPA filters and UV lights will capture and kill most of these particles. A HEPA filter is the only filter that removes up to 99.97% of airborne particles. They also trap and remove dust, dust mites, pet dander, pet hair, smoke and other pathogens that continue to make us sick. UV lights emit powerful UVC rays within a reflection chamber and are designed to kill or inhibit bacteria, viruses, mold, fungus and microbial growth. These are NON-OZONE producing lamps.
As part of your holiday preparation this year, go beyond preparing the aesthetics of your home and take the time to prepare the air that you and your loved ones will be breathing. Getting together with loved ones is not only important to maintain traditions, but also to protect and maintain our mental health. Let’s all do our part to protect our loved ones and ourselves this holiday season and beyond.
